Center for Urban Farmers produces a live webinar series that
provides a forum for exploring key concepts and strategies that
demonstrate how neighborhood-based food production can work as the
foundation of a wholistic social and economic development strategy.
The series presents the experience and best practices of educators,
growers and policymakers and is designed to help local food system
developers assess program opportunities and refine strategies for
maximizing impact.
Upcoming Topics:
Creating Markets for Locally Grown Food – growing food is
one thing. Selling the fruits of the harvest is another thing
altogether. Getting produce from the farm to a customer requires a
system of organizational and operational infrastructure to develop
economic opportunities that benefit local communities.
From Opportunity to Action – This discussion examines the
roles that local and state governments can play in promoting food
systems that are economically, environmentally, and socially just.
Participants will learn to identify community strengths and
opportunities, set measurable goals, and define actionable next
steps through a public policy lens.
